A few things to help in the planning process:
Registration is now open for all participants and volunteers. THIS IS A MULTI-STEP PROCESS and MUST be completed by December 16
- STEP 1
- Register for the Ski and Snowboard Program through Thetford Rec below. Required for all participants and volunteers.
- NOTE: The “With Season Pass ($35)” is only for those participants who already have a Skiway season pass from Dartmouth. Thetford Rec DOES NOT sell season passes. The $95R/$110 option is for those who need Thetford Rec to supply your lift tickets.
- STEP 2
- Register for “Thetford Rec Ski Program” (participants), and for “Thetford Rec Volunteers” (adult helpers) through the Dartmouth Skiway. Required for all participants and volunteers. This step requires logging into the Dartmouth Skiway page, adding these registrations to the cart (Free), and checking out successfully.
- STEP 3 (Optional)
- Those who need rental skis/snowboards from Dartmouth Skiway, must register for rental equipment here. Rental equipment will be picked up and returned at the Skiway on each Ski day.
- Ski Friday Dates
- January 2 at 7pm - mandatory Zoom meeting for participants and volunteers
- Ski Fridays: 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10
- All TES Students will be dismissed at 12:00. Skiers and riders grades 1-6 will have the option to take a bus from TES to the Skiway. Kindergarteners and those taking alternate transportation (e.g. ride from parents) should arrive at the Skiway by 12:30. **All students who are not participating in the Ski Program will go home.
- FIRST-TIME SKIERS: A parent must be present for the first three sessions for all kindergarten participants regardless of experience level and all first-time skiers/riders grades 1-6 (Jan 6, 13, 20). No exceptions.
- WE NEED VOLUNTEERS - Register as a Volunteer in Step 1 above!
NOTE: If we do not have enough volunteers to ensure safety for skiers, and adequate adult-to-student ratios, we will have to significantly limit the number of participants in the Ski Program
- On-Foot Helpers
- For those new to skiing or riding, but want to help. We can definitely use on-hill support with those on foot!
- On-Hill Group Leaders
- The group leaders are experienced skiers/riders who are the primary point of contact for a group of 3-8 skiers/riders, will represent Thetford Rec in a positive way, and will ensure safe, kind and responsible behavior of their group while at the Skiway.
- On-Hill Assistant Group Leaders
- Supports the group leaders, helps keep kids together, having fun and being safe.
- On-Hill Substitutes
- Those who can provide occasional on-hill support but may not be able to commit to all Ski days.
- Lodge Parents
- Lodge parents provide vital logistical support which ensures group leaders and assistants can spend more time out on the slopes with their groups. Some tasks include: managing attendance, setting up and clearing lodge tables, sign in sheets, lost-and-found, facilitating day-of communication with the school and parents as needed, helping students who may need a break while their group remains on the hill, etc.
