Thetford resident George Leung has volunteered to teach Proactive Personal Defense!
"Proactive Personal Defense is a holistic approach to protecting yourself and those in your care in situations that range from navigating ambiguous behavior up to and including the full-blown assault scenarios that tend to be the sole focus of other self-defense programs. Learners will work with each other to explore how the principles of preparation, parity, and decisiveness can be applied to actively discourage personal boundary breaches from happening and to effectively address them when they do occur.
All learners 16+ welcome. The realities of violence and sexual assault will be openly discussed. Learners are encouraged to advocate for themselves based on their comfort level with the subject matter and exercises by discussing concerns with the instructor and abstaining from any activity as they need — there is never any expectation or obligation to participate."
This class is offered for one weekend (part 1 on Sat, part 2 on Sun).
Please bring a bag lunch (please no nut products since we are using the TES cafeteria) to have during the lunch break at 11:30.
Please no photos taken of or during class since this topic can be emotionally challenging for some and being photographed may make others uncomfortable.
Please fill in an emergency contact when you sign-up.
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in.
