5:00 PM - 6:00 PM    Baseball, Softball, Rookies, T-Ball - Spring 26 - Majors Baseball '26: Practice
Who is ready for Spring?   Let's Play Ball! New Updates as of 3/26: 1) Rosters for Cal Ripken are due tomorrow. We have full or close to full teams for nearly all groups which is great! We are still welcoming anyone who wants to join Softball Majors (their roster due date is further out) as we have just barely enough to make a team.2) I have updated practice schedules for all teams. Game schedules will not come out until rosters have been submitted to league and the league have come back to us with the game schedules which they create. Please note that I have created a general practice schedule that starts in the gym for April and then transitions to outside fields. Both the start date for practices and the date to change to outside are completely up to your coaches and the coaches will communicate the specifics for those dates.New Update as of 3/13: Baseball Majors, Baseball Minors, Rookies and T-ball are all going to be part of Cal Ripken this season. Cal Ripken said they'll be doing Saturday only games for both Rookies and T-ball.I'm excited to have them (Rookies and T-ball) back with Cal Ripken as it is a known factor and they are happy to welcome Rookies and T-ball back to their league.Next year (in the fall) I will work to get Rookies and T-ball into the local Little League (the goal being to have them playing towns that are closer). It didn't work out this year with our timing. When it comes to baseball and softball, Thetford and many other towns are part of the Cal Ripken, and now Little League for Softball. These leagues are very established. They have boards that run local chapters.  They are very specific about their rules and safety measures.  All coaches and any adults that are going to help with a team need to go through the league's specified specific background check and training. The league determines which towns play each other within your state. Please note: When considering ages for this sport, the birthday cut-off for these teams is May 1st. Some or all of the teams will start indoors in the TES gym during April. Details to follow. ***For softball, please read all descriptions and sign-up for the one that fits best. There are overlapping ages in some of the groups. Experience/skill matter more than age in this case. Also, we are not sure that we will have enough kids for 2 softball teams so the teams may be combined. If we have enough players for two teams, Softball majors and minors players may be shifted between the two groups depending on skill level observed by coaches on the first few days of practice. League games will likely start at the end of April. End of season tournament ends in early June. Older teams: After the season tournament, they hold tryouts for the All Star tournament which is only for players who qualify. Non Thetford residents please email me if interested in signing up. 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM    Taiji for Healing - Spring 2026 - Taiji for Healing - Winter '26
Back by popular demand... Taiji for Healing with George Leung!George Leung teaches various martial arts. He is again volunteering to bring his knowledge and skill of teaching Taiji for Healing to Thetford Rec.Taiji for Healing:Taijiquan (T’ai-chi) is an outstanding exercise for rehabilitating a broad range of chronic ailments, but the key to its effectiveness lies in the mind, not the movements! In this class, we will study only a handful of easy-to-learn postures drawn from traditional Taijiquan as a starting point for exploring how mindfulness can profoundly transform the body and tap into our incredible fascial network, the source of Taiji’s fabled martial skill and revered healing effects. The goal of this class is to empower students with a simple, clear, and effective practice to improve pain and mobility issues, quiet the busy mind, and reacquaint ourselves with our bodies as truly sublime spaces for us to inhabit. Age:This class is specifically for adults (18+ year-olds). Attire:Feet specifics: Either have bare feet (no socks) or clean comfortable shoes that are not too padded (please bring clean shoes to wear in class that you haven't been walking around outside with - to keep the floor safe and clean at the community center).>>Please leave all outside shoes by the door when you enter the building.Clothing: Loose fitting comfortable clothes that allow you to move and bend with ease.Items to bring (and not bring):-water bottle-no mat used-please no strong perfumesSchedule:Tuesdays in March and April from 6-7pm at the Thetford Center Community CenterCost: The fee noted below covers all 8 classes (so if you are paying $10 at sign-up, that means you are paying for $1.25 per class). There is no fee beyond the initial sign-up. So, if you are a resident of Thetford, you pay a total of $10 for the whole program and if you are a non-resident you pay a total of $14 for the whole program.Payment: If you choose to pay with a check, please make the check out to "Town of Thetford" and drop it off at town hall with a note about what it is for and who it is from. Your name will not be included on the roster until your payment has been applied.FAQ: Q:"Can I miss a class?"A: George (the instructor) said that each class builds on things that were taught in previous classes. If you are comfortable with that, it is ok to miss a class if it doesn't work with your schedule. If you miss a class, please do not request for the missed lessons to be repeated as others will be ready to move on with new information.Q: "Can I join the class if it is full?"A: We have found that 20 people plus an instructor is a lot of people for the space. We will not be allowing more than 20 sign-ups for this class. For questions or to reach out to the instructor George Leung:email: uvwushuguan@gmail.comphone: 954-495-7800Please note: As with all Thetford Rec Programs, need based financial assistance is available to all residents of Thetford.

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM    Baseball, Softball, Rookies, T-Ball - Spring 26 - Minors Baseball '26: Practice
Practice schedules to be posted soon. Games schedules to be posted after the leagues give them to us. Non-Thetford Residents - please join teams only when given specific permission/invitation.

Practice schedules to be posted soon. Games schedules to be posted after the leagues give them to us. Non-Thetford Residents - please join teams only when given specific permission/invitation.

Practice schedules to be posted soon. Games schedules to be posted after the leagues give them to us. Non-Thetford Residents - please join teams only when given specific permission/invitation.

Practice schedules to be posted soon. Games schedules to be posted after the leagues give them to us. Non-Thetford Residents - please join teams only when given specific permission/invitation. 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM    Baseball, Softball, Rookies, T-Ball - Spring 26 - Minors Baseball '26: Practice
Practice schedules to be posted soon. Games schedules to be posted after the leagues give them to us. Non-Thetford Residents - please join teams only when given specific permission/invitation.
